JUNIOR OLYMPIC PROGRAM

 

SMG is proud to have the most experienced coaches who have taught the most state, regional, and national champions in the surrounding area!

 Our head coach and owner, Carrie Heator, has been coaching gymnastics for OVER 34 years, and has experience with Levels 1-10. 

We are striving help our gymnast's reach their fullest potential as a USA Gymnastics gymnast. SMG's Team is a highly structured, intensive gymnastics training program designed to help gymnasts realize their full potential.  We focus our training on creating athletes with technically strong fundamentals to increase longevity and future success.  We train our gymnasts on leadership, discipline, work ethic, respect, dedication, goal setting, nutrition, mental toughness, teamwork and perseverance.

Advanced Kindergym

1x a week 

(ages 3-6)

Class Day: Thursday

Class Time: 5:30-6:30

Pre-Requisite: Must pass an evaluation

 Development of strength, flexibility, and technique of skills are all emphasized in this class.

They will have the experience of being on a team, creating friendships and compete in gymnasts meets providing an exciting and enjoyable experience for the involved families.

Ages 3-6

Required Meets: Minimum of 3 SMG In House Gymnastics Meets

Attire: Tank Leotard & SMG Team  T-Shirt 

 

Hotshots 

1x a week 

(ages 4-6)

Class Day: Monday

Class Time: 4:10-5:30

Pre-Requisite: Must pass an evaluation

 Development of strength, flexibility, and technique of skills are all emphasized in this class.

They will have the experience of being on a team, creating friendships and compete in gymnasts meets providing an exciting and enjoyable experience for the involved families.

Ages 4-6

Required Meets: Minimum of 3 SMG In House Gymnastics Meets 

Attire: Tank Leotard & SMG Team  T-Shirt 

 

Xcel Bronze Recreational 

Level 1-3

1x a week Th 4-6:30 

Ages 5-14

Thursday 4:00-6:30

Pre-Requisite: Must pass evaluation

 Development of strength, flexibility, and technique of skills are all emphasized in this class. Gymnasts will learn Xcel Bronze Compulsory routines on all events (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor Exercise).

They will have the experience of being on a team, creating friendships and compete in SMG's In-House Meets, providing an exciting and enjoyable experience for the involved families. 

Ages 5-14

Required Meets: Mandatory  4 SMG In House Meets

Attire: Tank Leotard + SMG Team T-Shirt

Xcel Bronze Competitive

Level 1-4

Ages 5-15 

Thursday 4:00-7:30

Pre-Requisite: Must pass evaluation

Our highest levels have high standards; building on basics and striving excellence.  In SMG's USA Gymnastics competitive program self-discipline is taught so that the student learns to be patient and understand the important role strength and flexibility play in building a strong physical gymnast.

Required Meets & Fees: Opportunity to compete in up to 4 travel meets and State Meet (if qualified)    USAG membership Fee+ Annual Team Meet Fees Upon Registration

Attire: XB - Long Sleeve Leotard + Tank Leotard + SMG Team Shirt + Warm Up Fleece.  XS - same as XB but also warm up pants/jacket

Xcel Gold

 Level 4-6

3x a week 

Class Days & Times: Monday 4:00-7

Tuesday 4:00-7:00 

Thursday 4:00-6:30

Our highest levels have high standards; building on basics and striving excellence.  In SMG's USA Gymnastics competitive program self-discipline is taught so that the student learns to be patient and understand the important role strength and flexibility play in building a strong physical gymnast.

To be on our USAG Team is a year-round commitment with the intentions of progressing through the levels (7-10) We will focus on proper progressions, drills, specific conditioning, and plyometrics to be able to be successful and competitive against the best gymnast in the State, Region, and Nation.  Our highly trained coaching staff have had years of experience coaching athletes to help them reach their goals.

To reach these levels as a gymnast is an honor in itself, as these athletes must train exceptionally hard to achieve this level. 

Required Meets & Fees: 5+ Travel Meets +USAG membership Fee+ Annual Team Meet Fees Upon Registration

Attire: Long Sleeve Leotard + Tank Leotard + SMG Team Shirt + Warm Up Pants/Jacket

Meet Our USA Gymnastics Team Coaches

Carrie Heator

Carrie has had a passion for gymnastics her entire life; when she was a little girls she was always swinging on a tree branch or a clothes line! She started coaching gymnastics when she was 18 years old and opened SMG in 1994. She has been coaching gymnastics for over 34 years. having coached Levels 1-10 as well as High School gymnastics, she understands the complex rules of the sport and can ensure her athletes fulfill all of the routine requirements. She knows how to make her gymnasts SHINE! She has had over 40 USA Gymnastics State Champions, multiple USA Gymnastics Regional Champions, a USA Gymnastics National Qualifier and Runner-up, as well as multiple High School State Championships. Results speak volume of her well thought out training program! 

Kayla Williamson

Having been a gymnast her entire life, Kayla understands what it takes to achieve in the sport of gymnastics. She has won multiple State Titles including a High School State Championship, and USA Gymnastics Level 5-10 State Championships. She was a USA Gymnastics level 8 Regional Champion, level 9 Regional Champion, Level 9 National Runner-up, and level 10 Regional Qualifier. Kayla was also a TOPS gymnast where she competed against the top gymnasts in the country. She earned a spot on the 
National TOPS Team, where she trained at the Olympic Training Site with Olympic coaches (including Martha and Bela Karolyi). Being a trained and certified Physical Therapist Assistant, she is able to educate our higher level gymnasts with strengthening and stretching exercises, soft tissue work, and proper landing techniques to prevent injuries.
