Whether you are looking for a HIGH ENERGY Pre-School class, FUN recreational class, or to become a SUCCESSFUL Competitive Gymnast SMG is the place for you! We proudly boast to have the best coaches in the area with the most expierience- over 100 combined years ! SMG is truly a family atmosphere; many of our coaches started out as students in our program where they were trained with our values of teaching children in a positive, enthusiastic environment.
Our Mission
The mission of SMG is to teach gymnastics, cheerleading, dance, tumbling, and ninja in a fun, safe, and positive environment so as to advance these children to the ultimate level of achievement both physically and mentally. SMG seeks to enrich children’s lives by teaching them life skills, providing a fun physical outlet, and mentoring the child as a whole. SMG aspires to put the child’s joy and love of learning as our utmost goal.
History
Carrie Heator founded Southern Michigan Gymnastics in 1994.
She has had a passion for gymnastics her entire life. When she was a little girl she was always swinging on a tree branch or a clothes line!
She started coaching gymnastics when she was 18 years old and has been coaching for over 34 years.
Having coached USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Levels 1-10, she understands the complex rules of the sport and she knows how to make her gymnast's SHINE!
Student Success
Owner and Head Coach, Carrie Heator has coached over 110 USA Gymnastics State Championships, multiple USA Gymnastics Regional Champions, a USA Gymnastics National Qualifier and Runner-up, as well as multiple High School State Championships. Results speak volume of her well thought out training program!
In addition to successful sports careers, SMG students have gone on to be successful doctors, teachers, and many more professions. Even more rewarding, many of our former students have returned to work at SMG—coach Kayla, Stacy, and Jessica were all former students at SMG.
